Researcher<\/strong>
I started as a researcher at DTU – the Technical University of Denmark. I was a physico-chemist working with transport processes in porous media. 
It was back in those days where you actually solved differential equations and drew figures manually with an ink pen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I developed laboratory methods for measuring electroosmotic coefficients in soft materials such as sewage sludge and clay. It was great fun and I loved it, but life as a post-doc was without future. There were no positions available for a foreseeable future and after some years with very short project employments I left the academic arena. Not entirely, though, for I am still an external examiner at DTU for BSc and MSc projects, and once in a while I am in the assessment committee on PhD projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Consultant<\/strong>
I liked the global scene of the research world, so when I had to look for new pastures I went to a global consultancy company, Price Waterhouse – now PwC – where I mainly worked with European postal services.
After a few years, I decided to move on and became entangled in a company, BusinessMinds, with which I have been associated since. We were a data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics (back then it was called data mining) house. 
I have had many great experiences there. I developed the method for election audit still used for general elections in Denmark, I build a number of data warehouses and worked with governance and compliance.
At one time I worked with BusinessMinds Australia, where I was lead data modeler for a massive migration project concerning fleet maintenance for Qantas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a great experience and interesting to work out of an office where they tested the gigantic engines of the Airbus A380 just outside.
Back in Denmark, I was employed by DONG Energy – now \u00d8rsted – where I build a generic data warehouse with a thorough audit trail for day-ahead and intraday trading.
When the founders of BusinessMinds returned to Denmark and started BusinessMinds in Denmark again I returned to BusinessMinds. 
Recently BusinessMinds has been associated with QVARTZ which is now merging with Bain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Legal rights activist<\/strong>
Besides my day job, I spend a lot of time as an LGBT activist. I was involved in LGBT Denmark for 30 years being the chair for a number of years and being the spokesperson on legal rights for some 20 years.
In this capacity, I lobbied the Danish parliament and government on such issues as family law, medically assisted reproduction, and legal gender recognition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This work got me involved in the Danish Institute for Human Rights where I was a member of the Human Rights Council, which I also chaired for a couple of years. In this context, I had the opportunity to discuss LGBT rights with many interesting parties such as e.g. the Uganda Human Rights Council and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work with LGBT rights also brought me into the arena of refugees and asylum. I was deeply involved in the Danish Refugee Council (Dansk Flygtningehj\u00e6lp) the largest Danish NGO. This activity got me appointed to the Refugee Appeals Board (Flygtningen\u00e6vnet) i.e. the court-like institution making final decisions in asylum claims.
